Voter® Unleashes Political Influencer Matching

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 20, 2016

Find out which pundits, commentators, talk show hosts, and newscasters match with your views, and which might offer a fresh perspective.

LOS ANGELES – Voter, the political app that has been downloaded by more than 100,000 iOS users, has released an update that will allow users to match with 21 popular political pundits along with the presidential, senatorial and gubernatorial hopefuls previously offered. With this update, Voter will further inspire users to learn more about politics in an easily digestible, accurate and fun way that results in confident, responsible voting.

Users can look forward to matching with some of the most well-known voices in the political media world including Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Bill Maher, Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Russell Brand, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Wolf Blitzer, Stephanie Cutter, Van Jones, Newt Gingrich, S.E. Cupp, Michael Savage, Nancy Grace, Megyn Kelly and Trevor Noah.

“Sometimes the hardest part about political research is finding an outlet that you trust and that keeps you interested,” says Hunter Scarborough, Founder and CEO, Voter. “We really wanted to find a way to give our users a starting point. Political pundits are widely recognized, more relatable than many politicians and have strong opinions; they make a great entry point into the political world for anyone, regardless of the depth of his or her political knowledge. And, obviously, it’s fun.”

Voter first launched in September 2015 and continues to put out regular updates for its users with more questions and features each time. This update is no exception; a fifth round of questions has been added for users to answer. After downloading the app, users swipe through rounds of objective yes or no questions about relevant political topics. Voter sources objective data from speech tickers, voting records and public stances to algorithmically match users with possible presidential, senatorial and gubernatorial hopefuls and/or candidates. Voter gets more in-depth with each round of questions and as a result can give more accurate matches in the end.

With this update, Voter is taking steps toward helping its users find and understand the faces of political media and the opinions that are portrayed. Political research is a long and grueling process, but Voter adds a little spice to the mix by exchanging hours of research with a few minutes of fun and leading users straight to the most passionate voices in the business. Though Voter can be used as a stand alone tool for educating voters, it can also be used as a jumping-off point. The new update works to help its users move beyond the app into their own research. The overall goal of Voter is to ensure that voters show up on election day and that they are informed about the issues and how candidates truly line up with them.

Voter® partners with Tinder and Rock the Vote on 'Swipe the Vote'

Swipe the Vote

First it was Bernie supporters, then it was Rubio. We’ve been amazed by the amount of users expressing their political views with matches during this presidential campaign. That’s why we decided to build Swipe the Vote.

But don’t worry if you haven’t decided whether you’re for Hillary or Bernie, whether minimum wage should be raised, or whether you are even registered to vote. Tinder has you covered.

This year, we’re excited to partner with Rock the Vote and invite our users to weigh in on the issues that are heating up the debate and encourage them to register to vote ahead of the election. After all, millennials should play a big role in deciding who our next president is.

Starting today, users in the U.S. may see a ‘Swipe the Vote’ video card when they are swiping. Simply tap on the card and to swipe right on stances you agree with and left on those you don’t. To learn more about each issue, just tap the card before your swipe.

Once you’ve swiped through ten of the hottest issues, you’ll be matched with the candidate who best matches your views. We’ll show you how you compare with other candidates, too! Tap on candidates to learn more about the specific issues you agree and disagree on. From there, you can share who you matched with on social and - most importantly - easily register to vote with Rock the Vote.

The ‘Swipe the Vote’ experience was built in collaboration with Voter, the leading voting information app, created by Hunter Scarborough, and Wedgies, a real-time polling platform.

Voter® Accesses Local Elections and Offers Expanded Functionality in New Update

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - February 2, 2016

L.A. Start-up Voter® Digs Deeper into Local Political Market with New Features that Highlight Local Senate and Gubernatorial Elections

LOS ANGELES, California – Voter®, the app that objectively matches users with political
candidates, now goes beyond the 2016 presidential election to match users with senatorial and gubernatorial candidates. The update, available now, also features new questions, an improved user interface and political mapping. The free iOS app is now available in the App Store and is in development for Android.

Since September 2015, Voter has been delivering its users objective results by analyzing
speeches, public stances and voting records of the 2016 presidential hopefuls based on a user’s swipe-left-swipe-right answers to simple yes-or-no questions. The new update delves deeper into election season by also matching users with local senate and gubernatorial candidates as well. By engaging in the local election Voter hopes to raise the number of voters in the local election and allow its users to be confident in their votes. The update is complete with two new features for the app. A political mapping tool acts as a visual readout of a user’s placement on the political spectrum. The map consists of liberal, authoritarian, conservative, libertarian and moderate categories. At the end of each round of questions users are placed on the map at a point that best describes their political stance (i.e. right on the edge of conservative and moderate or on the liberal side of authoritarian). The political map is meant to help users take a step back and see where they land on the broad political spectrum overall without attributing it to a specific candidate.

The app now also features an Updates tab that allows users to stay updated on the latest
political news and information. This tab features tweets from all presidential hopefuls and
political outlets both national and local. Because Voter is not created to be the end all-be all information tool for voters the Updates tab is made to help users stay informed in their research and understand how the political world may be changing in real-time.

Voter was developed by Hunter Scarborough, CEO and Founder, after he realized how time consuming it was to find reliable political information in today’s often-sensationalized media environment.

“Like online matchmaking, Voter analyzes a user’s response to quickly identify the candidate with whom he or she is the most compatible,” says Scarborough. “Voter by no means replaces the entire political education process, but it’s an efficient and objective way for users to focus their time on candidates they could truly support.”

Voter is also now equipped with a link to help its users register to vote to make sure everybody and up-to-date and ready to go for upcoming elections.

Voter®, New App Algorithmically Matches Citizen Preferences With Candidate Action – Not Talk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 17, 2015

L.A. start-up applies online dating engine and UI to political candidates based on objective data points including voting records, speeches, public stances, finances and contributions

“Cutting through hype, flip-flopping and bluster, a candidate’s position can be independently established by looking at his or her political history. Voter gathers then quantifies this information and presents the real candidate in an engaging, mobile format,” says Hunter Scarborough, CEO and Founder, Voter®, LLC.

LOS ANGELES, California – Designed to equip every citizen with reliable political information, Voter® is a new mobile app that matches users with their ideal candidate in a fun and fast way. The free iOS app is now available in the App Store and is in development for Android.

With a clean design and a simple, ad-free interface similar to dating apps, users swipe left or right to agree or disagree with current political issues. After answering several questions, they’re presented with a candidate who most closely aligns with their beliefs.

Voter delivers its objective results by analyzing speeches, public stances and voting records. With voter apathy and media overstimulation at an all-time high, the app serves as a shortcut through the hype and uncovers the real candidate.

Users also have the ability to delve deeper into their new match with biographical information and infographics detailing campaign donations by company and industry. The app also provides direct lines to donate to and communicate with candidates.

While Voter is currently limited to 2016 presidential hopefuls, it will soon offer functionality for local elections.
